Book Lover Senior Pictures in Fort Wayne | Lucy’s Creative Senior Session

Lucy traveled all the way from West Virginia for her senior session, and from the beginning she knew she wanted something different than the typical senior photos she was seeing back home.

She loves to read and has such a thoughtful, creative personality, so we designed a session that reflected those interests while also exploring some beautiful locations around Fort Wayne. Lucy trusted me with a lot of creative freedom, which made it so fun to dream up ideas and create something truly unique for her senior pictures.

Starting in the Studio

We began Lucy’s session in the studio with hair and makeup before capturing a few simple portraits to add variety to her gallery. She wore a basic outfit for these images, and the clean studio setting created a really timeless look. We even pulled some pieces from the style closet just for fun!

Sometimes seniors are surprised by how much they love these simple portraits, and that ended up being the case for Lucy too. Some of her favorite photos from the entire session actually came from this part of the shoot.

A Stop at the Bookstore

Because Lucy is such a book lover, visiting a bookstore was a must for her session. We headed to Half Price Books in downtown Fort Wayne where the walls of books created the perfect setting.

She wore a cozy outfit that fit the vibe of the space perfectly, and we captured images of her surrounded by shelves of books. It felt like stepping into a quiet little world built around one of her favorite things.

Historic Homes and Lakeside Park

From the bookstore we made our way to a historic neighborhood near Lakeside Park. The incredible architecture of the homes created such a beautiful and timeless backdrop.

We then headed into Lakeside Park itself where we photographed Lucy beneath the willow branches and inside the rose garden. The soft light and blooming roses paired perfectly with her dress and gave us some truly dreamy portraits.

Finishing at Cook’s Apple Orchard

To wrap up the evening, we drove out to Cook’s Apple Orchard. Lucy leaned into the apple orchard theme with a red checkered top and matching red lipstick, which felt playful and classic at the same time.

Later she changed into a white dress with a wide brim hat, and the orchard setting created such a peaceful, storybook ending to the session.

Favorite Moments from Lucy’s Session

Lucy’s session was a perfect example of how senior photos can reflect someone’s personality and interests.

From the cozy bookstore portraits to the romantic rose garden and the orchard at sunset, every location added something different to the story of her senior year.

Sessions like this are always so special because they go beyond just taking pictures. They create an experience that feels completely personal.

After the session, Lucy’s mom sent the sweetest message:

“We are still talking about how much fun we had during Lucy’s senior session. Ashley took such great care of us from start to finish, and the photos are absolutely stunning. We feel so lucky to have found someone so talented and fun to work with.”

Messages like this are always the best because creating an experience that feels joyful and memorable is just as important as the photos themselves!

Planning Your Own Senior Session

One of my favorite parts of photographing seniors is designing sessions that reflect what makes each person unique. Whether it’s incorporating hobbies, favorite locations, or creative concepts, those personal touches always make the images even more meaningful.
