Bishop Luers Senior Athlete Sportraits with Football, Basketball, and Baseball

Charlie’s senior session was designed to highlight his life as a multi sport athlete at Bishop Luers. With football, basketball, and baseball all playing a huge role in his high school experience, we wanted to create images that felt bold, athletic, and a little cinematic.

Instead of a traditional senior shoot, we built the session around each sport, capturing a mix of dramatic portraits, action shots, and a few classic images that mom would love too.

Starting on the Football Field

We kicked off the session on the football field at Bishop Luers. Even though the midday sun was intense, we used off camera flash to create dramatic lighting that made the images feel powerful and polished.

Instead of a full uniform look, Charlie wore his jersey with jeans which kept the photos feeling a little more relaxed while still showcasing his connection to the team.

After capturing some strong portraits on the field, we moved up to the bleachers where Charlie brought out his medals and rings. Those details added such a meaningful element to the photos and really told the story of the accomplishments behind his varsity years.

Basketball in the Gym

Next we headed inside to the basketball court. Charlie switched jerseys and we focused on creating images that felt more like true action moments.

We captured him dribbling and shooting with a mix of tight shots and wider angles that showed the scale of the gym and the scoreboard behind him. Those wider images really helped set the scene and make the session feel authentic to the environment where he spends so much of his time.

A Fashion Forward Baseball Look

For the baseball portion of the session, Charlie changed into a suit. We wanted this part of the shoot to feel a little more unexpected and fashion forward, and the contrast between the suit and the grit of the baseball field worked perfectly.

We photographed some images in the dugout and used off camera flash again to add drama and depth. The combination of the suit, the dirt of the field, and the lighting created some really striking portraits.

After finishing on the field, we wrapped up the session at Foster Park Garden where we captured a few classic portraits of Charlie in the suit. These were the timeless images that every mom loves to have.

Favorite Moments from the Session

What made Charlie’s session so fun was the variety. Each sport brought a completely different energy to the photos, from the powerful football portraits to the movement on the basketball court and the fashion inspired baseball images.

It felt like a full highlight reel of his senior year.

Charlie’s mom shared something that meant a lot after the session:

Charlie wasn’t exactly thrilled about having his senior pictures taken at first, but Ashley made the whole experience feel easy and natural. By the end of the session he was actually enjoying it. She handled every detail calmly and helped us adjust when one of our planned locations didn’t work out. The whole process felt smooth from start to finish and the photos are something we’ll treasure forever.

Mom feedback like this always makes me smile because my goal is not just great photos, but making the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Planning Your Own Senior Athlete Session

Athletes often spend years dedicating themselves to their sport, and senior pictures are a great way to celebrate that part of their story.

Whether it’s incorporating sports, hobbies, or meaningful locations, designing a session around what makes each senior unique always creates the most memorable images.
