Senior Portaits: 5 Things You Forgot to Pack!

FILED IN: Seniors

Senior Photos Fort Wayne | Don’t forget these key things when prepping your senior session checklist!

Preparing for your senior portrait session can be exciting, but it can also be a little overwhelming. What should I bring?? What if I forget something?? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! I’m sharing my top tips on what to pack for your senior session to ensure you have everything you need for a picture-perfect experience.

  1. Wardrobe Essentials: Fashion is a great way to express yourself in your senior portraits! Every BBP senior has access to my exclusive What to Wear Guide to help them elevate their style with the perfect session outfits, but if you’re working with another photographer, be sure to think about choosing a variety of outfits for your session- think jeans and tee, mini dress, statement dress, casual chic, etc. Before your session, make sure you’ve gone through each outfit and have the right accessories, bra, shoes, jewelry and anything else for each look. Utilize hangers and turn your car into a mobile wardrobe rack so you don’t get wrinkles!

2. Props and Personal Touches: All my BBP Seniors get to utilize the Style Survey as a tool to help us brainstorm/design/and plan the perfect concepts for your session to really highlight your personality. If you’re not a BBP Senior, make sure you’re thinking about bringing props that reflect your hobbies, interests, or achievements to your senior session. Whether it’s a musical instrument, sports equipment, trophies/medals, your car, a favorite book collection… incorporating personal touches into your photos can make them truly unique and meaningful.

3. Beauty and Grooming Supplies: Don’t let frizzy hair or running makeup ruin your look! BBP Seniors that book a Luxe or Lite session have nothing to worry about, pro hair and makeup is included in their session so they’ll be sure to get long lasting styles that stand up to the worst summer heat and still look flawless. But just in case, a few essentials I always add to my list to bring include: Hairspray, bug spray, bobby pins, safety pins, portable steamer or wrinkle release spray, lipstick for touch ups, baby wipes, oil blotting wipes, just to name a few. It’s always smart to bring along items like makeup for touch-ups, hairbrushes, hair ties, and any skincare products you regularly use.

4. Comfort Items: Senior portrait sessions can be long- our Luxe sessions can last 3 hours and include an unlimited amount of outfit looks, not to mention we go to multiple locations all around the area! I always encourage my seniors to grab a bite to eat after hair and makeup, before our session begins so they don’t run out of energy. Even so it doesn’t hurt to pack some comfort items to keep you feeling relaxed and energized. Consider bringing water and snacks, a comfortable pair of shoes for walking between locations, and a jacket or blanket for chilly weather are all great ideas!

5. Positive Attitude: Last but not least, don’t forget to pack your positive attitude and confidence! If I have the privilege of being your senior photographer, you can be sure I will be your personal HYPE GIRL keeping you amped up and feeling like a rockstar your whole session. Remember, senior portrait sessions are all about celebrating you and capturing your unique personality, so relax, have fun, and let your true self shine through.
