Mamas, let’s do a little exercise.
Take a look around your house at the pictures hanging on the walls.
How many of those frames hold the faces of your sweet, precious babies smiling back at you?
Now look again, how many of those photographs include you?
If you’re like me, you’re usually the one behind the camera, trying to make them smile or make that cute face again.
You’re the one running around at the birthday party documenting all the festivities and making sure to have some visual reminder of the fun memories that day held.
Or you’re propping up your 3 month old on the blanket grandma made to take his monthly milestone picture for his one year baby book.
Your children are growing and changing so quickly, you know how important it is to photograph each stage before it fades into the next.
But what about you. What happens when they’re grown and looking back on those pictures of their childhood and there are scarce few precious photographs of you with your babies? Think about your own mother.
Think about how you love seeing pictures of her when she was your age, in the throes of raising small children.
Do you look at those photographs and think “boy, she really should have lost ten pounds before getting in this picture”? Or do you pour over it and study her face, her clothing, her hair, and does it bring back a flood of memories of your childhood days?
These are true gifts we are leaving for our children.
I know your schedules are busy and you’re not happy with your hair most days and you want to lose the baby weight first or any other number of fears and insecurities but I promise you,
when your children are grown you will never regret stepping into the frame to be in the picture with them.
When your now 2 year old is in high school and you flip through that family album and remember how she used to lay her sweet little cheek on your shoulder when she was tired, it will be priceless.
So don’t wait Mama, don’t wait until it’s too late.
